After helping hundreds of people who suffer from spinal stenosis and battling back pain myself for 10 long years…
I can you tell there’s probably no more aggravating form of pain.
Sometimes you can’t sit. Sometimes you can’t stand. Sometimes you can’t walk or drive. Or even lie in bed.
The pain is simply wretched.
A couple days ago, a man came into our clinic practically on his hands and knees. It was the only way he could find relief.
He was practically cursing under his breath. The pain was almost as unbearable.
He actually inspired today’s article. Today, I’m going to tell you what I told him…
Every week in fact, my clinics and programs are a destination for people from all walks of life who suffer from mild to severe spinal stenosis.
The first thing you should appreciate is spinal stenosis IS something that can be fixed without drugs, injections or surgery. That’s right.
Allow me to be clear about this, because it’s important:
Doctors are under intense pressure to see as many patients as they can.
When you’re seeing a doctor and they’re telling the only way to find relief is to take drugs, injections or surgery, you’re not being told the whole truth.
(I have doctors who are in pain visit my clinics, so I know.)
Let’s put it this way:
Spinal stenosis is a symptom. It means for whatever the reason, the spinal canal is narrow at some point, putting pressure on the spinal cord.
Now when they put a label your pain, like calling it “spinal stenosis”…
I totally get how good that makes you feel in the moment. You now have a name for your pain.
What happens next?
Doctors prescribe some heavy duty Ibuprofen to calm the inflammation, maybe ship you off to a physical therapist, and then they’re onto the next patient.
If it’s serious, they may recommend a corticosteroid injection or surgery.
And we already know how well that works, don’t we?
Let’s face it:
The Reality is a Lot of Doctors Fail to Fix Their Spinal Stenosis Patients
Patients return repeatedly with the same pain, the same issue, the same cry for help.
The doctor eventually begins to wonder whether the patient even wants to get better.
(Especially when the patient rejects, for good reason, risky surgery.)
Imagine that! It doesn’t quite occur to them it could be THE TREATMENT that’s not working.
And that’s because their “spinal stenosis” diagnosis just becomes an easy way of sending the patient home happy in the moment.
For the record…
Spinal stenosis is the term that describes symptoms of pain that come from irritation of the spinal cord.
Mostly likely, those tingling, unusual or painful sensations are caused by:
- A disc irritating, compressing or pinching a nerve…
- A bone spur…
- A facet joint at the back of a vertebra which is out of alignment…
- A strained back muscle spasming and painfully squeezing a nearby nerve or nerve sheathe…
Multiply these issues by the number of vertebrae and muscles in the back and…
You can appreciate how much work it can be to accurately diagnose the root problem. Even with technology like MRIs.
Which is why most doctors feel they’re doing the best they can with the resources available.
That’s why I prefer to take a more self-directed, holistic approach to fixing spinal stenosis.
So… How Do We Fix the Pain, Tingling and Numbness?
Recently, a former rugby player came to my clinic and…
25 years ago, he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis.
Now when he came in to see me, he came in practically on his hands and knees.
At age 65, doctors pretty much threw up their hands and said unless he was willing to undergo risky surgery there was nothing they could do.
He knew the odds and took a different path.
Here’s Jim’s inspiring story in his own words…
I think it may inspire hope if you’re also suffering…
“I’m a rugby player. About 25 years ago, I was diagnosed with something called spinal stenosis.
Since then, I’ve been on all kinds anti-inflammatories.
I’ve done all kinds of steroidal injections…
I’ve done all kinds of different exercises.
Quite frankly, they were just all stop gap measures. Nothing in terms of long term relief.
I’m 65. I played rugby until I was 40. And that’s when the pain really kicked in so…
I’ve had it for 25 years.
But in the last 3 months, I’ve basically had no back pain whatsoever.
In the beginning, I have to say I was skeptical.
But I’ve been following Ian’s program for about 3 and a half months so far and…
Today I can jump out of the bed in the morning better than I have in years.
About how many sessions until I really started feeling better? Just 4 or 5.
After 30 years of pain, let me tell you… it feels amazing to me.
I’m able to bend over and go outside and pick up the newspaper, which I wasn’t able to do.
Before, I’d get out of bed and it would take me 10 or 15 minutes before I could straighten up properly.
Unfortunately, when I had the spinal stenosis attacks, I would walk all stooped over and look like some hundred year-old man, quite frankly.
Now, I walk more upright.
I credit it all to this program.
Today, I’m religious about Ian’s program. It’s helped me considerably.
I recommend it for anybody who has tried everything else without success.
Try this before surgery. Believe me…
There are a lot of surgeons that wanted me to go under the knife and do all sorts of things I didn’t want to do.
I’ve heard all kinds of horrible things about the results. With surgery, it’s a 50-50 shot.
So I’ve really been putting that off for years and…
I’m glad I did. I feel a lot better now that I’ve been doing Ian’s program.
My back is a lot freer. I can even run couple of miles.
And it doesn’t bother me at all afterwards. I haven’t been able to run in 15 to 20 years!
So I’m upping my training more.
My knees feel good now. No sciatica pain down my leg. I can sit much more comfortably.
My life after Ian’s program has been a lot different. I can do things that I haven’t in the past.
I can play golf 3 or 4 times a week. Before I could only play once or twice and then my back would hurt for weeks afterwards.
I feel much better-–no pain at all.
I can do a lot more things–golf, running, lifting weights. Things that can keep me strong as I age.
So life is lot different for me. And it’s great!
So I feel very grateful that I discovered Ian’s program. It’s helped me out dramatically.”
How did we help Jim? Or maybe more aptly, how did Jim help himself?
He did 8 specific movements…
These 8 movements are totally unlike “the sheets” of exercises you get from chiropractors or doctors.
Instead, we “wake up” certain muscles and restore muscle balance.
Then in certain areas of his back, we jump-started pathways so vital oxygen and nutrition could get in and help him heal.
That’s the holistic way to relieve and remove spinal stenosis.
In Jim’s case, it took just five 30-minute sessions. And that’s not uncommon.
Just five 30-minute sessions and he was feeling tremendous relief… after 25 years of pain.
Yes, there ARE ways to get out of pain. They don’t require medication, surgery or injections. They don’t require months of physiotherapy.
You just have to restore your body’s natural functional movement and muscle balance and allow it to heal naturally.
