Benefits of flossing

New claims by British dentists about dental floss
Do you need to floss or not?
Existing reports point to unproven benefits.
For decades, flossing has recommended flossing as a major part of oral health, but how useful can it really be?

An investigation revealed that there was insufficient evidence to support this claim.
The Ministry of Health and Human Services confirmed in a letter that the benefits of flossing have never been properly investigated. There is only “weak evidence” that flossing is beneficial, but the American Dental Association (ADA) has strongly advocated flossing, saying it is an important part of dental and gingival care.

While the results of research by British researchers say
The best way to reduce the risk of tooth decay and gum disease is to brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and see your dentist regularly and avoid sugary foods.
You should know that flossing has been removed from official hygiene guidelines because flossing is more effective than flossing to clean the interdental areas, and flossing is only effective if the distance between the teeth is somewhat short and sticky.
And it is not possible to use an interdental toothbrush. Researchers have found that flossing studies are not reliable because some are only done for two weeks and during this short period, tooth decay or oral disease are less likely to occur.

Theory agrees with the use of dental floss

Why do dentists say flossing is good for you?

Many dentists have said that flossing can help remove plaque, food debris between teeth, and reduce the risk of gingivitis, gum disease, and the risk of tooth decay.

“Interdental cleaning refers to the cleaning of debris between teeth that can help build plaque.”
This recommendation is repeated by the UK National Health Service on its website:
“Flossing to prevent gum disease It helps by removing pieces of food and plaque from between your teeth.
“There is even a moderate potential for bias,” said one study last year.
“Most available studies show that flossing is generally effective in removing plaque.”

The difficulty is in trying to get good evidence, and people are different, and large studies are costly, and of course more complex measures are needed.

When is flossing recommended?
The American Dental Association began promoting flossing in 1908.
An American dentist invented dental floss in the early 1800s.
The first floss was registered in 1874, at which time dentists recommended it, and is now being invested in and guided by floss manufacturers in studies evaluating the benefits of flossing.

Is flossing harmful?

If this is done incorrectly, flossing can cause damage to the gums, teeth and dental work.
Sometimes, it can cause harmful bacteria to enter your bloodstream, which can lead to infection.

Is cleaning between your teeth useful?

Yes.
Even pessimists say that cleaning between your teeth is good for you.
Small toothbrushes are better for cleaning the area between the teeth, where there is space to do so.
Flossing is of little value unless the distance between your teeth is too small for interdental cleaning.

What do other countries say?

Several other countries still recommend:

The Argentine Ministry of Health, for example, says that people should floss between all their teeth every day with floss or a similar product.
“And the Australian Dental Association recommends that all people over the age of 11 should floss.
Brush your teeth and this is an important part of caring for your teeth and gums.
